About MPMA

Our History

In 1955 the Minnesota Tool & Die Association was founded by DeWitt Bills of World Aerospace. He gathered a group of peers whose mission it was to "Elevate the contract manufacturing industry in Minnesota to a high level of endeavor and accomplishment for the mutual benefit of all concerned." We continue to seek new ways to accomplish that mission for the benefit of our members and our industry.

Our Initiatives and Vision

We have built upon our achievements the past 50 years and have become the leading voice of the precision manufacturing industry in Minnesota. As an association we have introduced, lead and supported the initiatives and education that will keep manufacturing in Minnesota a strong and vital component of the state's economy including the:

  • Minnesota Manufacturing Coalition – Uniting 21 trade associations to leverage their resources to have a positive influence on the industry.
  • Manufacturing Educators Coalition – Uniting 18 tech colleges into one voice to market the manufacturing technology programs across the Upper Midwest.

It is our vision that Minnesota will be the recognized world leader in precision manufacturing and related technologies.

We are nearly 300 members strong. MPMA members consist of:

  • 152 Precision Manufacturers members
  • 107 Associate members who support companies such as steel, industrial supply, machine and tool dealers, heat treaters, platers, etc.
