MPMA Committees

Be a part of the energy moving manufacturing forward in Minnesota. MPMA offers you many opportunities to put your talents to good use and get involved. Becoming an active participant in a MPMA committee guarantees expanding your contacts and influence. We can't do it without you!

Benchmarking Committee
This committee evaluates the need for benchmarking surveys for the association. The annual Wage Survey with Manufacturers Alliance falls underneath this committee. Other surveys may be developed from time to time as deemed necessary.

Education Committee
This committee drives the content of the member education workshops. The workshops are designed to assist members with basic training and education in the operation of their shop. There is no cost for members to attend these workshops, and they are typically held at the MPMA office. Many of the speakers come from within the membership. Workshops are held one to two times per month.

Government Relations Committee
This committee is responsible for monitoring legislative activities that impact members and then notify members through legislative updates in the Scratchpad. Members of this committee are involved with the Manufacturing Coalition chaired by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

Typically member meetings are held during the months of: January, March, April, May, June, September, October and November.

Publications Committee
The publications committee oversees the success of the Precision Manufacturing journal. Committee members identify current issues and trends, suggest story ideas and provide overall feedback on the magazine's content and layout.

Special Events Committees
This committee plans special events such as Golden Gloves Banquet and Boxing Exhibition, MPMA Open Golf Tournament, Sunday Night at the Races, Motorhead Drive In Show, IMTS and other events that may occur from time to time. Duties include the development of marketing and promotional materials, logistical planning, fundraising and implementation.

Workforce Development Committee
The focus of this committee is to develop and implement various workforce development initiatives of the association. Current activities include the "Make It!" and "I Support" campaign, as well as involvement with the Midwest Robotics League (MRL). Members of this committee may also choose to be involved as an MPMA representative for the Minnesota Center for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (MNCEME). This committee also works with the bi-ennial Grand View Conference, which has a separate planning committee.
