MPMA Committees
Your trade association works best when YOU are in the middle of the action. Plus, you’ll build valuable relationships with a group of industry associates. It’s a win-win situation! Join an MPMA committee and watch what kind of a difference it can make for the association and for your business!
Education / Programs Committee:
This committee drives the content of the management education workshops (MEW) and the content of the monthly membership meetings. The MEW workshops are designed to assist members with basic training and education in the operation of their shop. There is no cost for members to attend these workshops, and they typically are held at the MPMA office. Many of the speakers come from within the membership. Workshops typically are held 1-2 times per month. This committee also identifies speakers and topics for the various member meetings. Member meetings are typically held the third Thursday of the month and include lunch and a keynote speaker on a topic relative to running a manufacturing business in today’s culture. Typically these meetings are held during the months of: January, March, April, May, June, September, October and November..
Government Relations Committee:
This committee is responsible for monitoring legislative activities that impact members and notify members through legislative updates in the Scratchpad. Members of this committee are involved with the Manufacturing Coalition and other grass roots lobbying opportunities made available from time to time.
Membership Committee:
This committee also incorporates marketing and public relations into the scope of the committee. They focus on membership retention and recruitment. Activities include the evaluation, development and implementation of membership benefits and an annual membership recruitment campaign. The group also oversees the development and management of MPMA Leadership Councils. In addition, this committee is responsible for public relations for the association including press releases regarding the association, media interviews and the branding of the association. This committee is also responsible for the Web site.
Special Events Committee:
This committee plans special events such as Golden Gloves, Golf, Motorhead, IMTS and other events that may occur from time to time. Duties include the development of marketing and promotional materials, logistical planning and fundraising.
Workforce Development Committee:
This committee develops and implements various workforce activities by supporting technical education programs and the training of the incumbent workforce. They promote and develop session content for the members-only Workforce Enhancement Education Workshops (WEEW). There is usually no cost for members to attend these workshops, and they are held at various locations. Other activities include the Manufacturing Educators Coalition and “MakeIt!” campaign, support for SkillsUSA, Supermileage and other programs that support the development of skilled workers. Members of this committee may also choose to be involved as an MPMA representative for the Minnesota Center for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (MNCEME).
