Get Involved in MPMA's Legislative Advocacy
Monday, July 10, 2017
MPMA members are invited to get involved in the legislative issues that are important to their businesses and Minnesota’s manufacturing industry by donating to the newly-formed Legislative Advocacy Fund.
The fund has been created to continue the momentum that MPMA experienced during the 2017 Legislative Session whereby we spearheaded a bill that created the Youth Skills Training Program. The program will:
- Allow high school “student learners” under 18 to do work-based internships and apprenticeships on the shop floor.
- Provide schools with the support needed to help work-based internship and apprenticeship programs succeed in their communities.
- Promote employer participation in equipping students with the skills and competencies needed for success in careers in the manufacturing industry.
The MPMA is continuing this work by collaborating with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry to begin implementing Youth Skills Training Program. Donations to the Legislative Advocacy Fund will be targeted for this effort, as well as to ongoing legislative initiatives of the MPMA, which includes property tax reform, R & D credits, transportation, labor and management, and workforce programs.
