The M-Powered Biotechnology Manufacturing Program offers a three-phase training program to prepare workers for five careers; Computer Controlled Micro-Machining Technician, Precision Metal Stamping Technician, Quality Process Technician, R&D Lab Process Technician, and Manufacturing Process Technician. M-Powered focuses on individuals looking for an exciting manufacturing career as well as men and women already working in manufacturing and seeking advancement. M-Powered is a fast-track training program where:
• New students, entry-level or incumbent employees enroll in college courses
• Students are taught basic skills such as applied math, measuring, print reading and job safety; and soft skills like arriving on time, every day, drug free
• Students graduate with industry certification and college credit after completing the coursework that includes paid on-the-job training
• Graduates begin a life-long education and career in manufacturing
Local manufacturers actively advise, monitor and support the course and curriculum and hire from program graduates

> Workforce Investment Boards (WIB)
Workforce Investment Boards, also known as Workforce Councils, exist to serve business and job seeker customers. There are 16 WIB's in Minnesota which are directed by the federal government, through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998, to unify and further develop the workforce system, which includes employment training, literacy and vocational rehabilitation programs. Services are found within Minnesota WorkForce Centers.
The WIB is comprised of community leaders in business, community-based organizations, education, labor, economic development, local elected officials and workforce system staff. Members serve on the board to provide oversight to the area's workforce development programs and to build community partnerships to address identified needs.
