MPMA Skills Development Academy Awarded MJSP Grant
Thursday, July 2, 2020
MPMA’s Skills Development Academy has received funding from the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership (MJSP) through the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
Along with Hennepin Technical College and Vision One High Performance Group, MPMA is partnered with 23 manufacturing members to launch a new cohort-based training program that will support manufacturers in developing in-house machining training and collaborating with training at Hennepin Tech. This grant program will span a two-year period and allow coverage of the actual training costs at Hennepin Tech, as well as consulting costs to help manufacturers develop their training programs.
MPMA will be able to incorporate additional manufacturers into this program as it is up and running. “We are very excited for this new approach to skills development of our workforce and we hope it can benefit your business,” said MPMA President/CEO Steve Kalina.
Last summer, MPMA received a pre-development grant from MJSP that has been used to develop the training program and curriculum.
MJSP works with businesses, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations to train or retrain workers, expand work opportunities and keep high-quality jobs in the state.
