Job Description:
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert in CNC Machining and Sheetmetal Fabrication and lead high-impact engineering programs. This role requires strong leadership, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to independently manage complex manufacturing processes, drive process improvements, and mentor team members.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
• Lead customer interactions independently, serving as the main point of contact.
• Lead complex, high-impact programs including multi-line launches, automation/robotics, and capital equipment selection.
• Serve as SME in CNC Machining and Sheetmetal Fabrication.
• Apply deep technical knowledge in CNC/Sheetmetal engineering to develop and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Identify root causes and implement corrective actions independently.
• Lead, mentor, and train other engineering team members.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices across the site.
• Prioritize workload and manage multiple projects independently.
• Design robust manufacturing processes and oversee implementation.
• Responsible for designing and building fixtures and workholding solutions.
• Identify and implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles;effectively communicate with customers using negotiation skills.
• Develop, standardize, and review complex work instructions;mentor others on technical writing best practices.
• Lead and review engineering and supplier change requests (ECRs);evaluate cross-departmental impacts and mentor others on ECR best practices.
• Lead the design and optimization of routers and BOMs to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to standards across products.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge, skills, and abilities).
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant manufacturing/process engineering experience in precision manufacturing, medical device, or aerospace.
• Fabrication experience.
• Demonstrated success delivering large-scale process improvements or capital projects and leading cross-site initiatives.
• Advanced proficiency in design software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Broad knowledge of outside processing.
• Advanced knowledge of precision CNC Machining and/or Welding/Sheetmetal Fabrication.
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading.
• Advanced skill in designing fixtures and workholding.
• Advanced technical writing skills.
• Strong leadership skills with experience driving strategic initiatives and CAPEX projects.
• Ability to translate customer/contract requirements into validated processes and documentation.
Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred or helpful)
• Master’s degree or advanced certifications (e.g., Black Belt, PMP).
• Experience working in the Aerospace, Medical or other highly regulated industry.
• ISO13485, ISO9001, AS9100 and NADCAP experience.
• Knowledge of ERP software (Epicor), CAD/CAM Software (SurfCAM, Mastercam, Esprit, SolidWorks), and PDM software.
• Six Sigma Green.
• Certified Weld Inspector.
• SME Certified Manufacturing Engineer or Technologist.
