SWISS CNC Programmer / Advanced Machinist

Summary:
The CNC Programmer / Advanced Swiss Machinist is a senior technical role responsible for programming, setting up, and operating complex multi-axis Swiss CNC machines, while also leading process optimization and mentoring team members. This position combines advanced machining expertise with programming skills to deliver high-precision medical device components in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Program, set up, and operate Swiss CNC machines (Citizen L20, L220, M32, K16) using GIBBScam and/or ESPRIT Cam.
• Develop new part programs and optimize existing programs for cycle time, tool life, and part quality.
• Deep understanding of tooling, speeds/feeds, machining strategies, and multi-axis machining.
• Inspect and validate parts, ensuring adherence to ISO 13485 / GMP standards.
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex machining or process issues;lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, Lean projects, and cost-reduction strategies.
• Mentor and train less-experienced operators and setup personnel.
• Document programming parameters, inspection results, and process deviations for audit readiness.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams on part design, process development, and qualification.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
Qualifications / Experience:
• 7+ years of CNC programming experience with strong hands-on machining skills.
• Proven ability to program, set up, and operate complex Swiss-style CNC machines.
• Advanced knowledge of tooling, speeds/feeds, and machining strategies for multi-axis machining.
• Experience in a regulated, precision-driven environment, preferably medical devices.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Prior experience mentoring or training operators and setup personnel.
• Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration ability.

Physical / Environmental Requirements (Both Levels):
• Lift/carry up to 50 lbs (team lift/mechanical assistance for heavier).
• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and repetitive hand/arm motions.
• Visual acuity for fine detail inspection.
• Exposure to oil, cutting fluids, metal particles, noise, sparks, and sharp edges.
• PPE usage: safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.
