Job Purpose:
The Advanced Quality Inspector ensures that products, materials, and processes meet company quality standards and customer requirements. This advanced role performs complex inspections, verifies critical features, leads quality initiatives, and supports the overall quality system. The Advanced Quality Inspector exercises independent judgment, resolves escalated quality issues, and supports continuous improvement within the department.
Key Position Responsibilities:
• Perform complex inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and visual/automated measurement systems.
• Lead final and in-process inspections, ensuring all parts meet customer, print, and specification requirements.
• Perform verification activities including FAI (when required), capability checks, validation of critical features, and documentation accuracy.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and leadership to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
• Use independent decision-making to disposition product, interpret specifications, and escalate when necessary.
• Review, complete, and approve quality documentation, including inspection reports, job packets, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions within the NCR/CAR workflow.
• Participate in internal audits and assist in maintaining inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation.
• Train, mentor, and provide technical support to beginner and intermediate inspectors.
Required Skills:
• 5+ years of experience in quality inspection or related precision manufacturing field.
• Expert-level proficiency in GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to lead quality initiatives and support complex decision-making.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently, remain focused, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Experience with visual measurement systems (e.g., automated vision systems, optical comparators, or digital imaging inspection tools). Experience with internal audits and quality system maintenance is a plus.
• Experience with internal audits, FAI, capability checks, or quality system maintenance is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
