Benefits: • Health Insurance • Dental Insurance • Disability Insurance • Paid Time Off • 401k with company match Job Summary As a Shear Operator, you will be responsible for safely and accurately operating metal shearing equipment to cut sheet metal to specified dimensions. This role plays a key part in material preparation for downstream operations and requires attention to detail, reliability, and flexibility. Workload may vary daily, and the ideal candidate is willing to assist with other production and maintenance-related tasks as needed. This position requires a strong commitment to workplace safety, including proper material handling, machine guarding awareness, and adherence to all company safety policies and procedures Key Responsibilities: • Operate metal shearing equipment to cut large sheets of metal to specified sizes and tolerances • Read and interpret job orders, cut lists, and work instructions • Safely lift, position, and handle large sheets of metal up to ~100 lbs per sheet, with assistance or material handling equipment as required • Perform routine inspections of material and finished cuts to ensure quality standards are met • Accurately enter production data, job information, and material usage into computer systems • Follow all safety policies and procedures related to machine operation, material handling, and housekeeping • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times • Maintain awareness of pinch points, sharp edges, moving machinery, and other potential hazards • Perform basic preventative maintenance on shearing equipment, including inspecting, oiling, cleaning, and reporting mechanical concerns • Follow lockout/tagout procedures when performing maintenance, cleaning, or clearing jams • Assist with general machine, building, and grounds maintenance as required Core Values: Serve the Needs of Others // Take Ownership & Initiative // Embrace a Winning Mindset • Support other production or shop tasks when shearing workload is light • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area • Promptly report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, near-miss incidents, or injuries to supervision • Participate in safety training, and continuous improvement initiatives • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments Requirements: • Previous shearing or metal fabrication experience is a plus;training will be provided for the right candidate • Mechanical aptitude or general maintenance experience preferred • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and compliance with safety procedures • Comfortable using a computer for data entry and basic production tracking • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks as workload changes • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Physical Requirements: • Must be able to stand and move throughout the shift • Ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver heavy sheet metal using proper techniques with appropriate assistance or equipment • Ability to safely handle sharp metal materials and work around moving machinery • Ability to perform repetitive motions in an industrial manufacturing environment Compliance Disclaimer: This position requires access to technical data subject to U.S. export control regulations under ITAR and EAR.
