Purpose: The Specialty Parts Inspector supports Specialty Parts operations by carefully inspecting, sorting, handling, and packaging precision metal parts according to customer requirements, quality standards, and work instructions. This role helps prevent part damage, identify nonconforming product, maintain clean and organized part-handling practices, and support timely delivery of high-quality products. The Specialty Parts Inspector must demonstrate strong attention to detail, patience, reliability, and a commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Inspect, sort, handle, and package precision metal parts according to customer and quality requirements Complete parts packaging according to work instructions, customer requirements, and shipment needs Handle parts carefully to prevent scratches, dents, contamination, or other damage Sort parts using visual inspection, scopes, lights, gauges, or other inspection aids as needed Identify and communicate suspected nonconforming parts or quality concerns Support containment, sorting, reinspection, and documentation activities as directed Maintain clean, organized, and safe areas for part handling, storage, inspection, and packaging Follow documented procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and customer-specific requirements Keep accurate records related to inspection, sorting, packaging, counts, or quality activity Communicate questions, defects, shortages, documentation issues, or material concerns to the Specialty Parts Supervisor Support production flow by helping prepare parts for the next operation, packaging, or shipment Run or support production parts as trained and assigned, including punch press, shear, or related operations as needed Assist with continuous improvement ideas related to part handling, inspection, packaging, organization, quality, and workflow Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and safe work practices Perform other duties as assigned to support Specialty Parts, Quality, Pressroom, and Manufacturing Operations Required Skills: Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to inspect, sort, count, handle, and package small or precision parts accurately Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to follow documented procedures, quality standards, and customer requirements Ability to keep accurate records and communicate issues clearly Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to perform multiple tasks accurately while maintaining focus Reliability, strong attendance, and willingness to support daily production priorities Desire to learn, improve, and support the team Commitment to safe work practices and careful part handling Preferred Qualifications: Prior manufacturing, inspection, packaging, sorting, assembly, or production experience Experience working with precision metal parts or customer-specific quality requirements Experience using scopes, lights, gauges, calipers, micrometers, or other inspection aids Experience with part counting, packaging, labeling, or production documentation Familiarity with quality inspection, nonconforming product, or containment activity Experience in a metal stamping, pressroom, assembly, or related manufacturing environment Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the shift Ability to visually inspect small or detailed parts, with or without corrective lenses Ability to handle small, sharp, delicate, or precision metal parts safely and carefully Ability to perform repetitive inspection, sorting, counting, packaging, and documentation tasks Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around production equipment, materials, and moving activity Growth Opportunities: Successful Specialty Parts Inspectors may have opportunities to grow into advanced inspection, Specialty Parts lead responsibilities, quality inspection, production support, pressroom, material handling, or other manufacturing roles over time based on performance, capability, business needs, and interest.
