What to know about MPMA’s new member-only LinkedIn group

For those who may not be familiar, the MPMA Machine Shop is a member-only LinkedIn group created for connecting with peers, sharing knowledge, and asking questions. We believe that the precision manufacturing sector is in need of a space where people can speak openly about their challenges, and offer their expertise to others. So, what exactly is the MPMA Machine Shop and why is it a benefit to our members?

Connectivity and Collaboration: The primary aim of the LinkedIn forum is to facilitate connections amongst our members. Whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting in the sector, this platform provides a secure space to network with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and build valuable relationships.

Solve problems: Have you ever needed guidance on a new ERP system? Or wondered what others are doing to maintain air quality in their shop? The Machine Shop is a place you can ask questions you might not find answers to anywhere else. We’re creating a community where members are eager to help solve each other's problems using their experiences.

Anonymous posting: If you have confidential concerns that you would like guidance on, MPMA will share anonymously on your behalf. This is a great way to receive insight from the manufacturing community without the pressure of tying your name to a question or concern.

Equipment exchange: Though this is not a place to market your services, group members are allowed to post equipment and raw materials for sale from time to time. A good example of this would be selling old machines that were recently replaced, or listing items from an office downsizing.

Be sure to read the group instructions before posting, which are as follows:

  1. Group members are approved by MPMA staff.
  2. All posts require MPMA approval. Posts must be respectful and professional.
  3. This group is not for marketing purposes.
  4. If you would like to make an anonymous post, please reach out to MPMA.
  5. Equipment or raw materials for sale can be posted, but only if such sale is not the primary activity of that business.
  6. Equipment capacity (or need) can be posted by manufacturers, but only on a short-term, infrequent basis. This is not a place to “market” your services.
  7. We encourage you to respond in the forum with insightful thoughts and answers, but solicitations are not allowed. Consider reaching out to request a Linkedin “Connection” to request direct engagement.
  8. MPMA has a strict antitrust policy which prohibits members from engaging in any discussion that could result in anticompetitive activities such as, but not limited to, product pricing, collusion, or business contracts.
